• I did search some but not even sure what to enter besides “how to post” LOL.

I’m dori, I’m trying to start blogs on my site (www.criscollrj.com) for my husband, my daughter, and eventually myself. I did load the program through fantastico onto folders named “Roger” and “Colleen.” I do see the program there, but can’t figure out how to post or edit. I click on “login” and just get a blank screen. Can you post from the page there or do you have to post through FTP? (That would be a pain for me – I’d rather just stick to Live Journal if that’s the case).

    Thanks for any advice…

I also like to have backgrounds on my pages (see what I did to https://www.criscollrj.com/photos through coppermine – that was fun!). Are there different backgrounds to choose also for the web logs?

  • well, since you’re setting up multiple blogs, in order to post, you first need to log on. most likely user name is admin, and the password would be the random password that you got when you first installed wordpress.

    https://criscollrj.com/roger/wp-login.php

that’s one example of where to go to log in. You can also give this a shot too:

    https://criscollrj.com/roger/wp-admin/index.php

that should take you into the admin panel if you’re logged in. Once you’re in there, just play around and you’ll be able to figure out how to post.

As far as backgrounds, yes it is possible, but it’ll require a little knowledge of CSS in order to get your background into place. Not too complicated though.

I loaded up your website/roger/ and got the default WP index.php. Clicking LOGIN down on the right side-bar loaded the “login page”.

    Same thing with /colleen/

    What browser are you using?

in any case the login page is

‘wp-login.php’ in each directory it’s installed in.

Did you save the passwords to be able to login as admin?

If you stay logged in the logged in person can go directly to the post page by loading: wp-admin/post.php

If that person is NOT logged in, loading that page directly will re-direct them to login first.

If you are doing the above, and getting a blank page, try clearing your cookies.

It’s important to have that first password and know how to login with it. Primary user is always ADMIN and you can create new users under that.

For the ADMIN it is important to go into the profile when first logged in and change the password to something you can remember, write it down, etc, be sure you just know that password somehow. Also fill in an email address so that password recovery via email can work.

You may use ADMIN as the only profile, and in Profile you can put the real name of the user and how you want it displayed on the site.

Or you can leave ADMIN as the top level, and not post with it, using it for ADMIN purposes only. Add a New User and promote them up levels to a high enough one for their blogging purposes day in and day out.

Posting, in any case, is done in a lovely web-page interface. Not FTP! No way! ??

WP is easy to use, you just have to know how to login and get going!

Once you are in and posting fine, you can style your CSS file or download a new theme and install it, it’s up to you what to do. There are many themes online, and also if you have pictures it’s fairly simple to learn how to change your backgrounds.
