BRAND NEW HERE

  • This is my first experience with any type of .html or programming or anything. I would love to learn how to change up the style of my current Kubrick theme. It’s just the default. How in the world can I add a picture? Change the width? Change the font?, design? Maybe there is an instructional site out there that you could direct me to? Any help would be appreciated. Sorry to infiltrate your topics with something so ‘basic’

    Have you seen the WordPress Codex? There’s lots of good articles and documentation there, especially the one called Getting Started with WordPress. If you lose the link, just come to this forum and hit “Docs” at the top of the page.

    What helped me at first (besides searching the forums) was visiting some of the more frequent WordPress forum posters’ sites. People like Lorelle, Kafkaesqui’s, Podz’, and MacManX (especially for Mac users) to name just a few.

    There are many, many more… you’ll discover them all the more you read the forum.

    Read a little bit, then jump in. And good luck to you!

    I would suggest that before you dive into the css, that you instead go look for something that overall may be closer to what you are after right now – that way you move away from the generic default quicker and with less stress ??

    WHOA! Talk about being ‘lost’. I went into the “Theme Editor” after reading some of this CSS stuff and I have no idea what’s going on. I think I need someone over my shoulder to teach me this stuff. One thing is for sure, once I’m shown “how”, I pick up on things fast and can fly from there.

    I went to that “Theme Viewer” but can’t seem to understand how to use it. How do I find a ‘theme’ and then add it to my Blog? Where are the different choices or templates?

    At the Theme Viewer, there is a drop down in the top right ?
    use that to se the themes.

    Once I see a theme that I like…how do I change to that theme?

    Download it to your computer; unzip it; upload (FTP) to your site into its own directory under wp-content/themes/. E.g. if the theme’s name is “Roses” you will have to create (if there isn’t one when you downloaded it) a directory like: /wp-content/theme/roses/ and put all the files there.
    Then go your WP admin panel (=login) and >Presentation > Select to activate the theme.
