    Hi!

I am in the process of moving from a web site to a blog and need help adding my advertisements.

I chose the WP-Magazine by Gabfire template because there are sections for ads, meanwhile, I can’t figure out how to add them or how to add products.

This newbie would really appreciate some help!

    Many thanks!

    Michael,

Thanks so much for the link. I opened it and printed it out.

Okay, the ads I want to place on the right hand side are affiliate links through CJ. I just can’t figure out how to put them into those slots in the template. How would I do that?

Can you tell I’m reallllly new at this? LOL.

Get the code from CJ and place it in sidebar.php if you want it to be in the sidebar.

You can access sidebar.php using an FTP client or via the WP dashboard by going to Appearance->Editor. If you’re doing it via the WP dashboard, you’ll need to make sure you have write access (if you don’t, ask your host to give it to you).

Try the Max Banner Ads plug-in. Simple to use and you can place your banners and scripts anywhere you like with ease. [spam link removed]

    evilbeet,

Thanks so much for responding. I followed your instructions and in Appearance > Editor found area for the 125 x 125 ads, the other size ad and the sidbar.php.

When I click on 125 x 125 ad this is what is in the box:

    <img src=”<?php bloginfo(‘template_url’); ?>/images/ad.gif” class=”left” alt=”” />
    <img src=”<?php bloginfo(‘template_url’); ?>/images/ad.gif” class=”right” alt=”” />
    <img src=”<?php bloginfo(‘template_url’); ?>/images/ad.gif” class=”left” alt=”” />
    <img src=”<?php bloginfo(‘template_url’); ?>/images/ad.gif” class=”right” alt=”” />

where would I place the CJ code here? Inbetween, instead of what is here? Yikes. This is going to be quite the learning curve.

    Thanks for your help!

I’m not sure what you mean exactly — you should be in the Sidebar.php code and from there you can basically put it anywhere.

What I’d do is just play around putting it different places and see what shows up right on the screen. That’s how you’ll learn anyway. Good luck!

For you, I would suggest you not to use a plugin. Because it will confuse you.. you can simply copy the code and place it in your sidebar.php file…
