Breadcrumb NavXT breaks certain WordPress functions

    Hi there,

    I’m using the latest wordpress version with a child of the VisitPress theme. This theme recommends this NavXT plugin which is really great actually (and it fits in nice with the theme).

    However, I noticed that when this particular plugin is activated, some things in WordPress don’t work any more. When NavXT is activated, I cannot make changes to my widgets, I cannot add/remove featured images and if I try to insert media to a new post/page, it does not show previously uploaded media (although it is visible in the media section).

    I wonder if anyone else has these issues and can help me resolve.

    This does not sound like problems associated with Breadcrumb NavXT (Additionally, I could not reproduce them on my site or local testbed). Please try the things you said were broken with all other plugins disabled. Then re enable other plugins one by one until things break.

    Well, you are right that this doesn’t sound like a problem that NavXT is causing. Just now I tried a whole lot of combinations of plugins I’m running (see list below). It turns out that Cyclone Slider 2 and Breadcrumb NavXT both activated causes the problem. Deactivating either one of them solves the issues.

    Maybe you can reproduce the issue this way and see what is causing the issue?

    Thanks for looking into that, I’ll try to reproduce this on my testbed and will let you know what I find (I’m going to try to get to it tonight but it may be tomorrow night before I respond with my findings).

    No problem. I will try to contact the author of Cyclone Slider 2 as well now, because as of this moment both of the both plugins seems to cause it (I need to deactivate both to resolve the issue).

    Just now, I found a workaround for adding media to pages using the Faster Image Insert plugin (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/faster-image-insert/).

    I just tried this on my testbed and can not reproduce the issue. I tested using the GitHub “equestrian” branch of Breadcrumb NavXT (not the same code as 5.0.1, but should be similar enough), version 2.8.2 of Cyclone Slider 2, and WordPress 3.9. I will try Breadcrumb NavXT 5.0.1 tomorrow evening. This is looking like an issue with something else in your setup.

    I put the php_flag errors on, and found out that it was a shortage of php memory. So I upgraded the limit and things were resolved.
