The Yoast SEO plugin is outputting breadcrumb schema markup even though it is set to disabled in the plugin.

I read through the Yoast tutorial about how to add breadcrumbs to your site and saw how to check where the output is coming from. I was able to positively identify that it was in the Yoast schema section.

I also changed themes to ensure it was not being output by that – I’m currently testing with the Genesis Sample theme.

I also do site audits for clients and seeing breadcrumbs schema on their sites too, and they have a variety of themes, and all have breadcrumbs turned off in Yoast SEO.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi,

Since v15.8, the breadcrumb schema will be present for all pages (except for 404 pages), even when the breadcrumbs feature itself is disabled.

You’ll need to modify the schema graph in order to remove the breadcrumb schema — https://developer.yoast.com/features/schema/api/

You can also refer to this GitHub issue for more information.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Just curious why schema would be output for something that is not there.

@blogaid The BreadcrumbList is more a placeholder in the schema for breadcrumbs, as it is not displaying breadcrumbs, nor a hierarchy of links in the schema.
