I updated a development site today to Yoast 15.2.1. While updating the content on several pages I noticed the breadcrumbs were wrong but realized that was because a custom Breadcrumb Title has been added on the page’s Yoast settings. I deleted the custom title and resaved the page but the title did not update in the breadcrumbs.

Tried clearing the page cache/site cache/browser cache several time. I tested a draft page but changing the page title and resaving with no effect on the breadcrumb.

I went back to another site running version 14.7 and changed a page title and the breadcrumb updated immediately on saving.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @vtoshmorelli,

You mentioned that you were using a development site and the breadcrumbs are not correct. Since version 15.1, whenever you change the home URL or the permalink structure, Yoast SEO should update URLs automatically.

If that didn’t happen, to allow Yoast SEO to reset the SEO data on your site, please try the following steps:

    1. Install and activate the Yoast Test Helper plugin
    2. Go to Tools -> Yoast Test
    3. Click the “Reset indexables and migrations” button
    4. Go to SEO -> Tools and under “Optimize SEO Data” click the “Start SEO data optimization” button.

For sites with more than 10,000 posts, we’d advise using the WP CLI command to do the indexation on the server instead of going to SEO > Tools. You can read more about this here: WP CLI – Reindex Indexables command

    Does this solve the problem?

Just wanted to follow-up. It seemed the issue was related to being on a development site. I wasn’t able to use the suggestion to re-optimize the data – it gave me an error saying it wouldn’t work on a development site. However, once I migrated the pages to the live site I was able to clear our the Bookmark Title field, save the page, and the correct titles appeared in the breadcrumbs.
