I have a WooCommerce site with the following structure

    Home
     - Product Page (store page)
        - Dogs overview page (a static page built with page builder)
            - Brown Dog Product Category Archive page (WooCommerce Product category archive)

When you click on the “Brown Dog Product Category Archive page” the breadcrumb displays

    Home/Products/Dogs/Brown Dogs/

Which is correct, but when you click on the “Dogs” in the breadcrumb, instead of going to the “Dogs overview page” it goes to the woocommerce product-category page for “Dogs” and not the static page as in the navigation menu

Looked at the settings and couldn’t find a way to get the breadcrumbs to respect the menu

  • Hi @noise,

You mentioned that the breadcrumb for “Dogs” is going to a product category instead of the static page. Can you let us know if the pages have different slugs? If not, does changing one of them to be unique solve the problem?

Yeah – I tried mucking about with the slugs (so I changed the static page’s slug to “my-dogs”, but still the same behaviour

We expect a little more information about your setup.
    1. Can you confirm you are using the most recent Yoast SEO, v15.9?
    2. Are all your non-Yoast plugins and themes also updated?
    3. Can you confirm you are using WordPress 5.6.2?

If all set OK, but still the problem persists, can you please try resetting our indexables in the database tables by following the steps below?
    1. Install & activate the?Yoast Test Helper plugin
    2. Go to Tools > Yoast Test
    3. Hit the “Reset indexables & migrations” button.
    4. Go to SEO > Tools, and under SEO data, click the “SEO Data Optimization” button to allow Yoast to rescan your pages.
For your site’s health and safety, we recommend creating regular backups of your site and database. This is especially important before installing, updating, or removing plugins. Learn more about the benefits of regular backups.

We look forward to hearing from you.

    Hi
    Everything is up to date.

I did that – still the same behaviour.

    Hi @noise,

We’re sorry that you’re still seeing a problem with your breadcrumbs. We have a few questions below to gather more information:

    1. Would you be able to share an example URL where the problem is happening on your site or on a staging site? That may help us understand what’s happening a bit better.

    2. Can you check any redirection plugins or your server configuration files to see if there are any redirects on the pages that you mentioned?

    3. We’d like to verify that the breadcrumbs are being generated by Yoast SEO since WooCommerce and some themes also have features to display breadcrumbs. If you deactivate all other plugins except for Yoast SEO and WooCommerce and switch to a default theme like Twenty Twenty One, does the problem still appear?

You can test this without affecting visitors to your site using the Health Check plugin and we have more information in this guide: How to Check for conflicts.`

    4. Can you let us know about any customizations you might have done to change your default breadcrumb path using the Yoast filters? Does removing any custom code solve the problem?
