    Looks like is_404() check can fail depending on the combination of plugins and theme you’re running. I have pushed an update (version 0.2.2) and setup a demo site at https://404.preseto.com to show that plugin now works with the TwentyFourteen theme.

    Please check if this update resolves your issue.
