Yep, no idea why SEO is fiddling around with the admin section, but all Visual Composer posts are broken in admin side.

That sounds like a plugin or theme conflict. Can you try and gather as much information for us? Please perform the following:

    1. Make sure the issue doesn’t persist when Yoast SEO is disabled.
    2. Check for conflicts.
    3. Check for JavaScript errors with your console.

If you find any JavaScript errors related to Yoast SEO or if there is a conflict with a plugin or a theme, you can create a new issue on GitHub for our developers. Please report the issue to a third party developer as well.

If you didn’t find any conflicts or errors, we think the issue is specific to your site. We’d need to investigate further but are unable to do so on these forums. You can purchase Yoast SEO Premium and receive our Premium email support and we can help you further.

Yes, turning Yoast SEO on and off is how I confirmed Yoast SEO conflicts with Visual Composer. Whenever you save anything in Visual Composer the resulting page is rubbish shortcodes and a mess.

It’s recent so I’m reverting to an old Yoast SEO

Where can I download an older version of Yoast SEO until this is fixed?

@oceanwatcher Click the advanced view on the plugin site. There you will find the previous versions.

Had the same issue with Avada page builder. As soon as I updated the plugin I can no longer edit the pages and there are a bunch of errors at the bottom of the screen. Had to deactivate the plugin to get my page builder back working. I tried to revert to the older version of Yoast and it still wont work now.

I wish we could see the dates with each old version. Usually the versions after a long gap are unstable initially.

Go back to 4.7.1, it works fine.

Even i faced the same issue, when i publish or save draft of my post, it keeps loading without stopping, but if we check the frontend, post is published/modified.

I tried disabling the Yoast plugin, and tried to create/modify post. It works smoothly.

It’s not compatible with the 5.0.1 & 5.0 version too.

Finally rolled back to 4.9 & it’s working like a charm.

Same problem here too. I found the the latest update conflicts with WP-Smush and breaks Visual Composer, resulting in a lot of garbage text being displayed at the bottom of the edit page. Disabling WP-Smush or reverting back to 4.9 solves the problem.

@sbailey4 Thank you for helping. I tried reverting to 4.9 and to 4.8, but no luck. Will go back one more to see if it makes a change.

I am having issues reverting. I uninstalled the plugin and reinstalled the older version and it’s still not working. Is there something more I need to do to fully clear out the new versioning so the old one works?

Can you please submit the issue to our GitHub repository for Yoast SEO? Thanks!

As the issue is a conflict with another plugin or theme, we highly recommend reporting the issue to the development or support team of the other plugin or theme. Having both teams work on the issue is a benefit to you.

If you have not submitted an issue previously, this guide will help you submit a complete report which may result in a faster resolution.

Go to Dashboard –> Features –> Text link counter (Disable this feature).

I have done this and my post is properly updating now. Try it guys.

Pretty bad isn’t it. The feature isn’t really useful anyway you have to re-save each post to get a count.

To make sure all the links in your texts are counted, you’ll need to run the “Count links in your texts” function under SEO > Dashboard > General. Please, refer to this KB article for more information: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/dont-see-internal-link-counts/

As for the initial problem you were experiencing, if it’s still the same when all non-Yoast plugins are deactivated (except Visual Composer) and your active theme is on Twenty Seventeen, we’d kindly ask you to submit a bug report to the plugin repository so that our developers can investigate the possible conflict.

half a dozen reports here aren’t enough proof for you, but you want us to jump through a few hoops to sign up an account to write you a bug report?

I tried the new one 5.1 again, with Dashboard –> Features –> Text link counter (Disable this feature).
    Nope doesn’t work.

    We’ll just stay on 4.7
