weird behavior with older verion of wp (4.3) – firstly the updates for (other) plugins gets stuck in a loop. then adding new category results with no effect. security check with ithemes security also went no further than hitting the scan button which doesn’t respond. so i got suspicions and went to backup site before further debug, but then Duplicator refuses to run with ‘500 server error’ and no additional details nor log entry (first time i see that behavior with duplicator).

then i remember that everything was working ok a few days ago before installing Better Notifications. disabled the plugin and *everything* went back to normal.

    Hi @rzlatic,
Thanks for your message and review.

I haven’t had any reports of this or issues in my testing, even on an older version of WordPress. It’s possible that something outdated (WordPress core or plugins) are causing the issue rather than BNFW if they are trying to use modern functions within WordPress.

Did you have any errors in your error logs that might indicate why BNFW was causing these issues?

Was the issue you experienced on the front-end, WP Admin, or both?

    Thanks,
    Jack

Same here. I’m just updating a website that was running on WP 4.3.6 and BNFW 1.6.9. It’s giving the following error in the log:
PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_get_raw_referer() in /home/xxx/domains/xxx.nl/public_html/wp-content/plugins/bnfw/freemius/includes/class-freemius.php on line 6415

Deactivating the plugin for now hoping it will work again after all the updates.

    Hi @josklever,
Please can you start a new thread as I don’t believe the two issues are related.

    Thanks,
    Jack

Sorry, the hanging updates were exactly the same, so that’s why commented and added the error message. The site has been updated to all latest versions now and the errors are gone, so my issue is solved. Hopefully you can help @rzlatic with his issue.

    Hi @rzlatic,
@josklever is right in that I do recommend updating WordPress and any plugins and themes to the latest versions for security and compatibility purposes.

Would this be possible in your case?

    Thanks,
    Jack

Just a quick update on this. I’m fairly sure an update to the Freemius SDK should resolve this in the next version of BNFW. For now, I do recommend updating WordPress core though to ensure you’re running the safest, most compatible version.

    Thanks,
    Jack

thanks. in the meantime i’ve updated the core so the bnfw is now running smoothly. but i have a backup of the website based on WP 4.3, so i can try that environment on my localhost after freemius sdk update, and let you know. thanks again.
