Any change Yoast might consider bringing back meta keywords for those of us who still find it useful, I can 99% say google still uses this feature.

@blissyung No, we’re sorry, we won’t be bring back meta keywords as feature of the plugin. It is because meta keywords have not been used by search engines for a long time that we have chosen to no longer include them as a feature.

We have an article which explains in further detail why we didn’t recommend using meta keywords, and why they were disabled by default in the plugin here: https://yoast.com/meta-keywords/

If you wish to optimize your page for a keyword we would recommend using the focus keyphrase feature of the Yoast SEO plugin. You can read more on the difference between meta keywords and focus keyphrases here: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/the-difference-between-focus-keywords-and-meta-keywords/

Thanks for your response! Actually, when meta keywords (as a feature in the Yoast SEO plugin) was initially removed, a feature request from some users was raised to reintroduce it, however, after a bit of consideration and review, that was closed as well. So it’s safe to say that we’re not going to be reintroducing that feature anymore. Of course, if you have any other feedback or suggestions, please feel free to let us know.
