Broadcasting timeout

    Hey

    I’ve setup a Multisite with 20 sites in total. When I broadcast posts that include more content than just text and a single (lowress, under 100kb) image, I get a timeout-error. Right now the website is installed on it’s own server with 5 cores and 12gb ram – which in my opinion is quite a lot. But the error still appears.

    Any suggestions besides upgrading the server even further?

    More cores isn’t help anything, unfortunately, since WordPress (PHP) is run at one core per visitor.

    Here are some suggestions, though:

    1. Increase your PHP timeout in the PHP ini
    2. Only update a few posts at a time
    3. Have a look at the queue plugin in the plugin pack

    Thanks for the reply. I had no idea about the “one core per visitor”

    1: I’ll look into this
    2: I only update 1 post at a time, and then I wait and cross my fingers that it doesn’t timeout
    3: Where do I find this? I dont have any additional plugins installed that refer to ThreeWP Broadcast?

    See the Queue plugin.

    Although you can probably get away with just increasing your PHP timeout.
