• Edit: Originally gave this plugin one-star because I had a serious problem. I’ve left the original review below so that others can avoid the same problem + can see the creator/author’s process of customer support. She reached out and was superbly helpful, investing her own time to helping me. I reinstalled the plugin and the footer is gone. I really appreciate your time Mihaela. Thanks.

    Original review untouched:

Wanted to remove text that said “Powered by WordPress and Theme Name.” Only way to remove the text is to write one word per line, where I wrote:

    Powered
    by
    Wordpress
    and
    Theme
    Name

Result was the “.” at the end was still visible on my footer. So I went back and added it to the next line as:

    Powered
    by
    Wordpress
    and
    Theme
    Name
    .

And it broke my site. I was literally paralyzed. Had no way of removing the plugin from my computer because the site was disrupted. On my mobile, I opened up the WordPress app and manually removed the plugin from there. First time I’ve ever manipulating a plugin from the mobile device. And after it was gone my site was back up. One of those unbelievable moments where your heart drops. Do not download this plugin. Why in the world adding a “.” would break your site is beyond me. Even more ironic/hilarious that the description of the plugin explicitly says it won’t break your site.

  • Hello @theforwardmale,

Thank you for letting us know about this and explaining what happened.
First of all I would like to apologies for the inconvenience!

Unfortunately what you experienced happened because of the text you added in Step 1. To help you understand what caused this please allow to me explain how the plugin works.
It works like this: you enter text/code and it will search for that text/code in the source and replace it with what you add in Step 2. It was designed to have there a piece of code containing the copyright code or the copyright text, not just a dot – all on one line. Adding code/text on separate lines is seen as separate code/text.
When you added the ‘.’ to be removed it removed all the dots from the source which broke your website.

I will also explain below how to use the plugin:

You have to go to your website > right click on it and select ‘View page source’ > search there for part of the text you want to remove > once you find it then copy it > and paste it in your dashboard > Tools > Remove footer credit > Step 1 > inside the field for step 2 leave empty to remove it completely.

See my screenshots with an example:

    https://gyazo.com/6cd4b74663eb4f17dce791c83fa26c14

To remove it make sure to leave step 2 empty or add text
Please give it a go following the example above and let me know how it goes.

If it’s easier, you can send me your website’s url and I will send you the code you should insert in step 1.

With that said, I hope this will help understand how the plugin works and why this happened. Thanks again for your review and again, please accept my apologies for what you experienced.

    Respectfully,
    Mihaela

I’m sorry I still don’t understand. I have zero experience with code. My URL is https://mehlmanmedical.com. I’m sorry about the negative review as it’s obvious you’re trying to be genuinely helpful here. Yes please if you help out it would mean a lot. Thank you so much again.

Thank you @theforwardmale for giving us the chance to improve your experience! We appreciate it!
your dashboard > Tools > Remove footer credit > Step 1 > and there paste this code exactly:

    <div class="site-info-designer">
    					Powered by <a href="https://www.ads-software.com" target="_blank" title="WordPress">WordPress</a> and <a href="https://themezhut.com/themes/hitmag/" target="_blank" title="HitMag WordPress Theme">HitMag</a>. </div>

I have also installed the theme on my end to double check the code above and it seems to be working as it should and it will remove the copyright text.

Please let me know how it goes.

    Thank you again,
    Mihaela

Left my original comments here so others can avoid the same problem if they happen to read the reviews. Creator/author has best customer support of anyone I’ve encountered on the internet probably ever. Thanks again. And the plugin works.

Thank you so, so much! ?? It means a lot!

    Lots of love,
    Mihaela
