    Been a while since I updated so I took a chance. Locked me out of my on site. I had to go into ftp and rename the plug in to get access to site. When I change it back I lose access. Can i get previous versions to reinstall?

    3.0 was definitely a big update, and if things failed it may be because you were on an unsupported PHP version and we did get more strict with our 5.6 requirement.

    But if you locked yourself out, if may be because of invalid Front End Login settings. https://www.uncannyowl.com/knowledge-base/front-end-login/ includes instructions on the changes and what to do if you do somehow lock yourself out (which would typically only happen if you have sitewide redirects for users that aren’t logged in).

    Old versions of the plugin can also be downloaded from the bottom of https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/uncanny-learndash-toolkit/advanced/. I would suggest trying to resolve whatever issue you were having though, because if 3.0 failed it means something is wrong somewhere on your site, or you’re using a version of PHP you shouldn’t be using (check the Settings > Support tab in the LearnDash plugin for anything in red). For login testing, also consider activating the plugin only after you’ve signed in as an admin, then testing in another browser or incognito so that you can experiment without locking yourself out.

    So I can’t log in if the plug in is active. But I can log in if i deactivate it. Is tha PHP? I don’t know how to update PHP. IF I do will that cause other issues?

    Recommended workflow is something like this:

    1. Deactivate the plugin by renaming it via FTP.
    2. Log in as an admin, name it back and make sure it’s activated. Don’t log out.
    3. Check LearnDash LMS > Settings > Support and make sure nothing is in red (at least the PHP and MySQL values).
    4. Check the Front End Login settings to make sure they’re valid, and make sure there are no sitewide redirects. Trying logging in using a different browser while still logged in as an admin in the other browser. Try to figure out why you can’t log in.

    That’s unfortunately as far as we can probably take things without knowing the error message, if one is displayed. If PHP version is low, your host should be able to help.

    So I am stuck on the Front end login part. I changed nothing except update plug in. So I don’t know what settings changed in the plug in to all of a sudden cause this issue. I know that I can not log out when logged in while the plug in is active. And if the plug is deactivated I can log in but I get an error but still have access. Chasing my tail. I would delete the dang plug in but can’t log out without it.

    If Front End Login is what’s causing you problems that you aren’t able to resolve, just turn off that module. You can still use the rest of the plugin with Front End Login disabled. Or you can, of course, roll back.

    3.0.x has been updated on a few thousand sites and we haven’t seen similar issues with Front End Login, so it’s unfortunately difficult to say what’s not working in your configuration; we haven’t seen anything that looks like a bug in our release though.

    And if you say you didn’t change settings, try resaving those settings, after confirming they’ve valid. Make sure the page you chose for the login page is selected correctly; choose it again and resave.

    I did de-select front end settings. Any user that inputs their info it says password or user name not correct. And I know it isn’t true because I set them manually to check.

    Try rolling back, test on a Staging or Development site if you can so you’re not affecting live users. Our plugin shouldn’t be affecting user validation though. Check with the old version to confirm it is tied to the update only.

    I am restoring my site. This absolutely sucks. No more updating plug ins. I’m tired of this crap.

    I know it can be frustrating, but it is still a good idea to follow WordPress best practices. Updates can sometimes include security or other important fixes for a site. When you perform updates, try testing them on a Staging site first before deploying to Live. That way, if there are issues, you can resolve them before updating the Live site.

    Update: I deactivated the uncanny plug and and found an issue with another plug in. The site is working for now. I will try to reinstall uncanny to see what happens.

    Better update:
    I am once again using the plug-in. It wasn’t the uncanny owl plug-in that was the culprit. It was a combination of the updates with a google recaptcha. Thanks for your help.
