• So the embarrassing story is, I was trying to fix my permissions in my file manager because I wanted to fix my permalinks so I could get my pages to work. I accidently completely messed up my admin panel to the point where I can’t get it to work whatsoever, even though my website shows.

    My website is https://www.paranoidonion.com

I’m not quite sure how to go about fixing this, or if fixing it is possible. If anyone could give me any help at all with this I am very frustrated and it would be appreciated. I could completely reinstall wordpress, which is possible because I have all of the code files backed up on my hard drive (I use dreamweaver) but I would prefer to avoid this so I don’t have to recreate all my pages and page content. ??

    Thanks

I’m guessing no one has any advice for me whatsoever.

If its file permissions you messed up:
    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Changing_File_Permissions

If you messed up during permalinks you could look at:
    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Using_Permalinks

If need be you could take out or add in the section starting with:
    IfModule mod_rewrite.c

Then we can move on from there if still not working.

I am still a bit confused on where you want me to start. I read the permissions page.

This is what the error I’ve been having says:

“The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request.
The script had an error or it did not produce any output. If there was an error, you should be able to see it in the error log.”

When I search for IfModule mod_rewrite.c I can’t find the file. Are you asking me to download wordpress again and replace the files one by one?

You were supposed to do more an read the page on permissions. The idea is to check the permissions of your files and directories.

ALso look in your main WP directory for a file called: error.log and if so then post the last few errors into pastbin.

But it sounds like you have the wrong permissions somewhere. And remember too much permissions is just as bad as too little. It must be the Correct permissions as per that page.
