Hi there. Thanks for a great plugin! I’m getting a “Broken ARIA reference” error on our accessibility scan. For some reason, your plugin is inserting non-existing element ids into the “aria-describedby” attribute on fields that have empty descriptions. I can force the error to go away by adding a description to each field. However, I would prefer it if the “aria-describedby” attribute was only filled with existent element ids. Any advice? Thanks!

Hi @faisalahammad. Thanks for your reply. You can replicate the issue by:

    1. Install Ninja Forms on a fresh WP install.
    2. Add the default form to any page.
    3. Run a WAVE accessibility scan on the page.

If do these steps, you’ll see errors like the ones indicated in this screenshot.

    Hi again,

Thanks for reaching out and reporting the accessibility issue concerning Broken Aria reference.

Accessibility is important to us at Ninja Forms and we are making strides towards becoming compliant every day.  We currently have a project that is examining our form builder using an internal team and an outside resource as well.  We do not have a timeline as to when the form builder might be 100% compatible but we seem to be making good progress on identifying the areas we need to address, and we will begin rolling out changes as we can test and add them in releases.

We’ll make sure the issue you reported is on the list of things to check and fix as we begin rolling the changes out.

Thanks for helping Ninja Forms in this endeavor!? ?

    Regards,
    Faisal

    Hey guys –

This is a very serious problem.

I work for a commercial web design firm. We guarantee to our clients that the websites we build will pass standard accessibility scans such as WAVE. As of now, we’re putting Ninja Forms on our “Do Not Use” list.

Hello guys, I experienced the same issue with the latest version of Ninja Froms 3.8.12. and I fixed that after I downgraded the version to 3.8.2

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/ninja-forms/advanced/

From the above link, you can download version 3.8.2 which fixed the issue for me.

    I hope this helps.

    Best Regards,

    George.

Hello, using 3.8.18 version of the plugin still produces the error, it doesn’t seem to be resolved. Like @toulip I had to downgrade to 3.8.2 to resolve the issue.
