Broken by Update and Bloat
-
Update breaks the original functionality. Will not actually place the GA code in the page.
Update also breaks my twitters feeds.
No errors from the plugin regarding its failure to work. We’ve lost a month of tracking data.
This also adds stupid levels of cross platform access for a plugin that was originally about simply inserting code. Makes me suspect malware/snooping.
I have reverted to simply adding the correct code to all themes. If you have this just switch to another GA insertion plugin or insert code manually.
Perhaps WordPress could send notifications when a trusty old plugin like this changes hands? This is the second such issue I have had this year where a stable, old reliable plugin blows up with a brand new developer and suspicious new unsolicited additions.
**Review Update: After looking around, I see that WordPress regards this behavior by ShareThis as a feature, and not a bug. A very lucrative feature evidently.
I’m providing support at a major research university that is totally not interested in losing IP to cheap skivers or breaking laws with unwitting product endorsements.
So, after five years of WordPress being the answer every time, all the time, I see the first chinks in the armor of why we’ll eventually ditch it.
Nice to know the future. Good work guys.
