Hi there – I hope this is the right place for this!

I have recently migrated a site from local to live server. It uses a TwentyTwelve child theme. Everything is fine – except that the link for my header image and icon fonts will not change after both running a SQL query (as found in these instructions) and trying the VelvetBlues plugin to update my URLS.

I wonder why it would be these two things specifically? All other links/images are working as expected.

I’d rather not share the URL if possible – I’m hoping this is a basic universal issue.

Thank you – any advice is appreciated.

    Hey rebecca,

I’m guessing that the links that aren’t updating as you expect aren’t actually in the database but are in your child theme files.

I’d probably look in your child theme to see if you have a header.php file with some hard-coded links that need to be updated.

    Make sense?

Hi Eric, thank you very much for taking the time to reply.

That does make sense and I think is probably true. However, I don’t have header.php in my child theme because I haven’t needed to alter it, so the issue isn’t there, unfortunately.

The icon font files meanwhile are in a folder called ‘fonts’ inside the child theme’s folder.

I have migrated other sites before and done things exactly the same way, so I don’t know what could be different this time!

Could the problem be anything to do with my website files being uploaded to public_html on the server (which is where I was told to put them)? Is that affecting the links somehow, e.g. to the font files in my child theme?

I suppose it depends which files you uploaded to public_html. If that’s where your main WP install is, that’s fine. Your child theme is most likely in wp-content/themes/, right?

When the child theme is activated (and you’re missing the right header and fonts), what are the URLs it’s using to try to pull in these assets?
