Broken… On WP 3.91
-
That’s it. With WP 3.9.1, CKEDITOR and CKFINDER don’t seem to work reliably anymore..
We had the conversation here, either way, it’s now about finding an alternative…
CKEDITOR team: we’d really ask you to reconsider abandonging this project for WordPress…

Not working in 3.9.1
When I edit content of a post and click Update it shows Leave Page / Stay on Page buttons, just like if i navigate away after change.
It also causes JS error in this block:editor.on( 'submit', function() { save({ post_title: $( '#title' ).val() || '', content: $( '#content' ).val() || '', excerpt: $( '#excerpt' ).val() || '' }); });
Unfortunately have no time to debug and fix and am moving to another editor as this plugin looks abandoned.
Hi, the alternative is paying is called “Moxiemanager” I use
it’s great.
more with TinyMCE Advanced
cordiallyThanks bill57, however this is quite a high price tag for some file management in WordPress. Also I didn’t read anywhere that this was integrated with WordPress.
Does anybody else have a suggestion for a good WYSIWYG editor in conjunction with a decent image/file management application? I guess Tiny MCE is great as the editor for text, however my question is more with regards to file and image management without the nasty media library…
Thanks!
I have been searching for a solution high and low for the past week. Moxiemanager is the only solution for a wysiwyg incorporated solution and tinymce is our only option. Im guessing that’s why their price tag is so high. Its rediculous that folder managment is not native to WordPress. I mean come on, its common sense. Why do they not want to incorporate this?
No, there are other great apps like this one, just not yet ported to WordPress. See it and fall in love!!!
https://www.responsivefilemanager.com/
… and ask Alberto kindly to port it to WordPress (I’ve already asked but he seems to be very busy…).
Yes I found that as well but like you said it doesnt work with wordpress yet. I would love to use responsivefilemanager but because of the funky way tinymce framework is in wordpress is its not an easy plugin. You cant just throw it in the tinymce/plugins and initialize it.
I agree but Alberto is a very talented developer and I am sure he could tackle this if there is enough interest…
Another option could be Josh who is equally talented and who developed https://wpeditpro.com
While commercial I think it has the pote trial to beat tinymce…
Thoughts?
I got responsivefilemanager to work. I will be posting a plugin myself for it to work within the next week. In short if you feel like messing with it today I did the following.
I added the responsivefilemanager tinymce plugin to /mce/ folder of the tinymce_advanced plugin. Thats /mce/ folder is what we would basically call additional “plugins” for tinymce. In that responsivefilemanager folder you will find a file called plugin.min.js. Edit it and change where editor.windowManager.open({ file points to the dialog.php in the actual “filemanager” folder that you downloaded and installed to your server of albertos plugin.
Then you need to add the button to the tinymce_advanced plugin. In the php and js files of tinymce_advanced I added “responsivefilemanager” where I found the other plugins names that are in /mce/ folder to register the button. Then in tinyce_advanced settings in wordpress I dragged and dropped the icon into the tinymce editor layout. Viola.
Thanks for the link Bill, I hadn’t seen that. So at least we have an alternative even if it comes at a hefty price tag! Is there any way somebody could set up a demo site somehow? That would help test the features. Unfortunately I am traveling right now and can’t test it myself..
I have already built the Responsive File Manager into a WordPress plugin:
https://wpeditpro.com/wp-edit-pro-file-manager/Moxiemanager has a outrageous price. Not a good option IMO. WPEditPro is more reasonable but you are still taking someone elses open source plugin and charging for it and calling it your own. Which I can’t help disagree with. You dont even credit the actual developer. Both options are bastardizing what it means to be open source. In spite of this I will be creating a free WordPress port plugin and then credit the actual developer.
Credits are in the source code. I’ve also made a $300 donation to the Responsive File Manager author; which allows the code to be used in commercial products.
Additionally, some source code had to be adjusted to work within the WP framework. Make sure you set all your file paths correctly in your free version, or I guarantee you will have people who will struggle (those who do not use the default ‘wp-content’ directory, for example).
You could credit the developer with a text link; or you could send him $300. Which do you think he would prefer?
I think we shouldn’t flame around credits right now. I am sure Josh can add a note somewhere if that’s the right thing to do.
Right now we should be “joyful” that somebody has taken the initiative to work on this. We should all put it to the test and see whether this application does what WordPress doesn’t: easily manage images and files in the WordPress Post Editor in a hierarchical, logical order.
I for one will test it this weekend and quite frankly, can’t wait to get started!

I agree with titush.
For a long time I used CKEditor, but about 2 years ago I switched over to Unltimate TinyMCE pro from Josh and was very happy with this decision, mostly for his very strong support on his plugins.
Now I switched over to WP Edit pro, the sucessor of UTMCE.
I can say, that when Josh integrates a plugin into his suite, he does more than only make it available, he does a lot of work to enhance it, like export/import of options for example… and he gives a rather pretty support, I never found that with any other plugin…
So, I think it’s good, that he started to integrate Responsive File Manager into TinyMCE, and yes, I think a note about the origin would be a good thing to do.
Nevertheless, I’m very interested to see the free plugin of dustmop to get the Responsive File Manager to all the WP users, that don’t have WP Edit pro…. ??
