After launching a new website the search input works no more.

I developed the site in a subdirectory and moved the index.php to the root directory and updated permalinks as well as internal links (I followed this instructions for moving: https://askwpgirl.com/move-wordpress-from-subdirectory-to-root-directory/ ). But there is still the subfolder included if the search is executed from the WP Responsive Menue (https://www.domain.tld/wordpress/?searchterm . On the regular search all works fine: https://www.domain.tld/?searchterm

How could I fix the search input URL? I did not finde any field in the settings of the plugin for this, like the logo link, which also must be fixed after moving the index.php.

I tried to deactivate and activate the search input within menu, but this did not solve the problem there is still the subfolder included. I would be very thankfull for any suggestions, where I could update this URL.

    Hello @felix76

We really can’t see your site. Can you please share your site url so that we can look into it and let you know about the issue.

    Hello @kshirod-patel

On my localhost test installation I just reinstalled the plugin. The settings are kept in the database, so the old settings appear again, and the problem is not solved. I think the problem could be, that the plugin uses (for the search input) the wp_site url in the general settings instead of the wp_home url which differs in my wp-installation, because I installed WP in a subdirectory.

Thanks for your help, but I don’t like to share admin logins and will try to solve the problem myself. If you have any idea, where I could look, I’m happy for any suggestions.

If I finde a solution, I will share it here.

A similar problem occurs if I set the “Logo link / Title link” to default (empty) – then the plugin also uses the wp_site url instead of the wp_home url. And the logo link goes to the subdirectory.

    Hello @felix76 ,

yes I can see. The issue what you are facing is just because you have installed wordpress in a directory. You can easily change the site url from the wordpress admin settings. Just try to change it from the wordpress admin panel. Go to Settings > General. Then change the Site Address (URL) .

    Hello @kshirod-patel

Thank you, but unfortunately I want to run wordpress in a subdirectory to keep my root directory clean and for security aspects. But it’s okay for me, if I don’t include the search input in the mobile menu. There is also a search link on my metanav. If i just modify the WP_SITE URL I also have to move the content of the subdirectory into the root directory.

If perhaps a further release of the plugin will use the WP_HOME URL instead (which on most (but by far not all) wp installations is identical with WP_SITE URL), I will give this plugin option another try.

Also the excellent Live Preview in the backend will be shown again with wordpress in subdirectory, if WP_HOME URL is used.

But except of this issue the menue works fine for me!

Thank you very much for your help!

Now for the why: The internet is a wonderful place full of very nice people and a few very bad ones. I’m sure everyone here is very nice however, by giving some ones keys to your house you are trusting they wont steal anything. Likewise the person who takes the keys is now responsible for the house FOREVER.

If something was to go wrong, then you the author may well legally become liable for damages, which they would not normally have been as their software is provided without warranty.

Please be aware that repeatedly asking for credentials will result in us asking you to repeatedly stop before escalating up to the plugins team.
