Broken special characters on sites that are hosted on WordPress.com

We got an issue with special characters on iOS mobile on a site that we are hosting on wordpress.com.

It seems like Elementor is changing special characters when a text field looses focus, which prevents us from fixing this issue manually.
We input " (U+0022) and Elementor turns it into “ (U+201C).

Is there an option to disable that behaviour?
