Broken? Unfinished?

  • This Plugin doesn’t seem ready to be released. Upon installing there were no new options, anywhere, that I could find.

    Eventually I found a menu item under the Settings menu and one checkbox said I needed to select it to activate the Plugin. That, alone, is completely unintuitive to the WordPress standards.

    Even after doing so, I still didn’t see any new options.

    Then I tried selecting the experimental multi-tab option where it seemed to indicate, through written instructions, that it wouldn’t display the tabs I create until I purchased the pro version. Which is fine, except that I couldn’t get the first tab to appear much less know where to add the tab in the first place.

    As a user I, absolutely, shouldn’t have to select, a second time, an “activate” button. WordPress activates the Plugin so it made no sense why I would need to do that. And upon activation it should have display a new option on the WooCommerce -> Products -> individual product page where I’m administering the content. Not some oddly placed menu that is treating it like a separate custom post type.

    This is a much needed Plugin but it’s got to get finished first. I’d gladly give it a better review if such improvements were made.

    This plugin is ready for use! We also use this plugin on our own website (websoplogic.com), and on other websites we operate without problems. We have never heard about those problems you write.
    Please report this kind of problems in support forum first, because that is the place of problem handling.

    Maybe some plugin conflict causes your problems, please check other plugins. You can find the plugin that conflicts WC Custom Tab plugin, if you switch them off separately, and check if the problem is persist.

    If you find a plugin conflict we would appreciate to hear your comments about it on Support page, to resolve it.
    As you can see on “Screenshots” tab in WordPress plugin repository, the option page has a lot of parameters. If you only see the enable plugin checkbox, your system may have some problems. This is the common solution in WordPress, so we don’t consider to being “unusual” – as you have written.
    In Lite version you cannot use multiple tab pages, as you can see in plugin description, it is only in PRO version. But for testing reasons you can switch on “Enable evaluation of multiple tab administration” option, that enable the administration panel of multiple tab definitions for testing reasons. Multiple tabs will be displayed only in PRO version – as description of this checkbox tells: “Turning this option on, you can define multiple tabs, the admin pages has full functionality for evaluation purposes, but the configured tab pages will be displayed only in Pro version.”
    Order of tabs is freely configurable. You can adjust tab page priority in “Product tabs” admin menu. So it is possible to define which tab be the first.
    I don’t understand exactly what “second time activation” means. The activation of this plugin is similar to other plugins:

Activate Plugin | Return to Plugin Installer

    Click on “Activate Plugin” link, then “Plugin activated” message uppears.

    The plugin has three administration place, that is very usual in WordPress, so we do not think that menus are oddly placed:
    1. Settings -> WooCommerce Custom Tabs menu: option page of this plugin, this is the usual place in WP admin
    2. Product Tabs menu: Tab page custom post type definition menu, it is the standard place for these kind of functions in WP admin
    3. The third place you can configure content of tab pages for individual products is “Edit product” admin page. This is very comfortable and intuitive, that content of your own custom tabs can be specified in the same place as the contents of the standard WooCommerce tabs.

    We believe that this is the correct placement of admin functions, which corresponds to WordPress standards. If you have concrete ideas about get menu placement better, please don’t hesitate to write it us.
