We host all of our websites with A2 Hosting. They talked us into upgrading our hosting plan. They have this 1 click migration for each of our domains. Now all the websites are broken and they say it’s because of code Wordfence has in some of the files on my websites.

They refused to help me and said I needed to contact Wordfence for help.

I am at a loss here.

Hello @paramedic192 and thanks for reaching out to us!

We will need to correct the wordfence-waf.php path for the auto_prepend_file so the firewall works correctly.

Are you able to access your WordPress dashboard? If so, can you send a diagnostic report to wftest @ wordfence . com? You can find the link to do so at the top of the Wordfence Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.

If not, depending on your setup, using FTP or file manager, find your user.ini file in your root directory. If you open it, you should see something like:

    ; Wordfence WAF
    auto_prepend_file = '/path/to/waf/wordfence-waf.php'
    ; END Wordfence WAF

You will want to correct that path for auto_prepend_file to point at your wordfence-waf.php file. That should correct any issues you were having with the firewall.

Let me know how it goes or if you have questions!

    Thanks!

    thank you for replying.

We do not have access to the dashboard of the website. That has been our issue. all but one of the , the front end is working. We have changed the paths in files .htaccess, user.ino, and the waf file, with no success. Our host says they can not help with this matter.

Let’s just remove Wordfence and then start over then. If the extended protection isn’t removed before migrating, it can cause some issues.

To ensure you have completely removed Wordfence, follow these steps:

    • Remove extended protection manually (https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/optimizing-the-firewall/#removing-the-optimization)
    • Remove the wordfence plugin folder located in wp-content/plugins
    • Remove the wflogs folder located in wp-content
    • Remove wordfence-waf.php located in the root of you WordPress installation
    • Remove all Wordfence related database tables from the database, using for example phpMyAdmin or Wordfence Assistant plugin.
    • Check either .htaccess file or .user.ini depending on your server configuration and remove any code snippets wrapped by # Wordfence WAF and # END Wordfence WAF.

Then install Wordfence like normal. Let me know how it goes!

    Thanks!
