    Greetings?authors,

we are noticing something that we don’t fully grasp. When we clear our browser cache (not logged in as administrator) we see a cache miss for our pages. However, if we don’t clear the cache and just ctrl + f5, we see cache hits in the response. I thought the behaviour would be that cloudflare caches the pages for all visitors until we purge it in the dashboard (plugin or directly in CF itself)

Thank you once again for your amazing support!

It looks like the issue was a redirect rule which is not required as CF handles this already. As soon as I disabled this I am seeing cf-cache-status HIT in all instances.

    Hi @timothydalton,
I just checked your website in an incognito window and I saw cache HIT. Screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/ctiAE8w.jpeg

Clearing browser cache will not have any effect on Cloudflare cache it will still remain HIT. However, for higher cache HIT ratio, I will suggest you to enable the smart tiered cache inside your Cloudflare Dashboard > Caching > Tiered Cache.

Hi @isaumya – thank you for this hint. I just activated this option. So basically without this enabled there exists the case that the cache is actually not hit and we see a miss?

No. But it’s complicated. If you are interested to learn more, read this: https://acnam.com/untold-truths-of-cloudflare-cdn/#cloudflare-cache-creation-replication-storage

Thank you @isaumya, this helps indeed. What would be your recommendation? Maybe wait for a while and see what the ratio is before purchasing something like Reserved Cache in Cloudflare? We also just enabled the fallback cache functionality in your plugin, it seems it can be very helpful, too.

    Hi @timothydalton,
I would suggest you to enable the “Smart Tiered Cache” inside Cloudflare Dashboard and then check. As Reserve Cache is not going to hold all your files (especially the files that does not have content-length value in the response header) think carefully before purchasing it, but you can definitely give it a try for a month and then check the difference.

Many thanks @isaumya that sounds like a good plan.
