Browser crash while converting images

    Hi there Mr. Gbiorczyk and anyone who knows,

    unfortunately my browser accidentally closed while regenerating my images at 7% progress. The plugin instruction explicitly tells that’s something not to do during conversion.

    How should I proceed now? Will images be double compressed and have a bigger file size as a result if I just start over again, or should I follow certain steps to avoid a bad outcome?

    Hello @the4wards,

    Thanks for your message.

    Please restart image conversion. Do not check the “Force convert all images again” option. Then the process will continue, so already converted images will not be converted again.

    Don’t worry about anything. Everything will be fine. Nothing bad happened.

    thank you very much for your immediate answer. Besides the situation I described in my initial message, I noticed that during conversion it seemed as if all .gif files were left out. Is there a certain reason for that?

    @the4wards However, please note that animated GIFs are not supported, so be careful when using the GIF format.

    Hi there @mateuszgbiorczyk,

    kindly allow me to ask more questions. I ran the conversion again and it stopped at 12%. Is the percentage a reference as of how much images were decreased, or does it implicate the overall progress?

    Further I’d like to know if it’s normal that my images are still shown with their initial format when inspecting (via console) the website, due to the mod_rewrite method you refer to in your description.

    Does the compression/conversion also apply if the website is distributed via CloudFront?

    What happens to files that have been rewritten on the server, if I deactivate the plugin, respectively how can I restore the default image files again?

    @the4wards What do you mean it stopped at 12%? Could you send us a screenshot or describe exactly what you mean?

    Have you read the plugin FAQ? There, in question “How to check if plugin works?” you will find information on how to check if the plugin is working properly.

    After deactivating the plugin, everything returns to its original state. And when uninstalling, the plugin removes everything after itself.
