BSocial Theme from ithemes Navigation Problems

  • I have purchased the BSocial theme from ithemes and am not getting on very well with it at all.

    I am finding the theme set-up very hard to navigate.

    I have asked many questions of the ithemes admin in the BSocial part of their own forum, but I am getting nowhere fast. The answers are far too advanced for my limited tech abilities and the forum admin seems unable to answer in simpler terms.

    If there is anyone out there who knows this theme I would be grateful for some simple advice.

    My main issue is with navigating the widget areas; I cannot find out where text or widgets entered into the widget areas labelled ‘Feeder Row 1’, ‘Feeder Row 2’ or ‘Feeder Row 3’ appears on the actual page; entering ‘test text’ helped not at all as I could not find it outside of the widget section.

    I would also like to know where/how to enter text in the box on the home page that contains ‘page marker content’ that reads: “Hello world! Welcome to WordPress. This is your first post. Edit or delete it, then start blogging! Permanent link to this post (16 words, estimated 4 secs reading time)” No test text in any widget area seems to show in this box and I can’t work out how to change its content.

    I have also found that each page’s content is partially copied on to the next, on the internal pages, but cannot discover how to alter this.

    Finally I would love to change the text that reads “Video of the Week” but again cannot get direction on this.

    I would grately appreciate answers to any or all of these questions…

    I am not completely new to WP, but this theme has me very frustrated; tbh if I hadn’t paid cold, hard cash for it I’d be dumping it for another theme right now.

    I am sorry you are having such a hard time of it. You’re asking some very theme specific questions, that’s not something we can answer here.

    We don’t support commercial themes here because we do not have access to that theme. And to be honest, we don’t want that access. It’s not for us to undercut the business model of those theme providers and support is part of what you paid for.

    Please continue to work with the theme vendor’s support forum. Hopefully you’ll get your answer there.

    Thank you anyway, it was worth a shot…I’ve always found WP very supportive…and clear with their advice…

    …however, I do not feel supported by ithemes I’m afraid…

    …wish I’d never bought this stupid theme…never again!

    Have you read the ReadME file in the theme? I have never had a problem with any of their products and support. I would be happy to look this over and see if I can assist you; however it will need to wait until tomorrow if you are interested or still in need in help.

    Hi Overhall,
    where would I find the “ReadMe file in the theme”?

    I know, probably somewhere obvious that I’ve missed.

    I would be so grateful for any help you could offer, whenever you get the chance.

    I have wasted so much time trying to get help from the ithemes forum without much success.

    I am not a techie, although I have had WP sites before, so I have some knowledge, but not quite enough to make this particular theme work for me.

    After weeks of trying to get simple instructions that I can follow, from the ithemes forum, I have finally given up.

    Any requests for clarity seem to be met with petulance from the BSocial admin who appears to feel that if I haven’t understood his explanation the fault lies with me…he may be right, but It isn’t the support I expected or need from the owners of the theme.

    If you are willing to offer me any guidance at all, however little, it would be such a relief…and I truly do need answers to only a very few, but oh so vital, questions.

    The ReadMe file is a text file. Unzip the theme folder on your computer and you will see it inside the folder.

    I’ve pasted some of it below. Let me know if that helps or if you need more assistance in other areas of the theme .. (I’ve taken out some of the stuff that doesn’t mean anything):

    INSTALL:
    1. Unpack this archive in your wp-content/themes/ directory.
    2. Go to the WordPress Admin dashboard, and select the Design tab.
    3. Select the new theme.
