BuddyPress invite codes

I checked the plugin you mention and it doesn’t have any specific gamification feature and nothing related to what a gamification plugin should offer (points, achievements and ranks) it’s just to invite users to join a group through a code

So the feature you are looking for is more focused to BuddyPress than GamiPress

I don’t know why it’s named as a BadgeOS plugin while the whole functionality is related to BuddyPress

I will mark this topic as resolved since there is nothing we can do

BadgeOS invite code addon allows you to add users on the multiple buddypress groups when registering to the site. Furthermore you can award badges and points to the user joining buddypress groups using invitation codes.

It is mentioned on the addon page that it works with the collaboration of Badgeos community addon which allows you to award badges and points based on community events.

Use the BadgeOS Invite Code plugin in conjunction with the BadgeOS Community Add-on, and badges based on Group membership can be awarded to users as soon as they join your site with a valid Invite Code.

Yes, the invites codes work in conjunction with the badgeOs plugin as WooNinjas stated. In exchange for typing in an invite code, the user gets points upon registration. These invite codes are decided by the site administrator.

BadgeOs is a gamification plugin. It was one of the oldest, but I have switched to GamiPress because it is newer and works better. This is one feature that BadgeOS’s extensions had that GamiPress does not. I am merely saying this is a good idea.

A functionality that includes another gamification plugin doesn’t mean that GamiPress should include it too

Every plugin development team focus their plugin in a different way, GamiPress is the unique that provides a flexible system of points, achievements and ranks that any other have, but that doesn’t means rest of gamification plugins need to follow it

Also, based on Invite Codes statistics, it just have 100+ active installs so it shows that it isn’t an indispensable functionality for a BuddyPress community and just a few of them will need it

Anyway, there is a huge number of development agencies that could “translate” this plugin to GamiPress, replacing the BadgeOS functionalities with GamiPress ones

I am going to be frank. Your response is so riddled with grammatical errors that I can’t understand it.

If I want to, I can add invite code to my site. That’s not my issue. I am suggesting that you add this feature for all the people who cannot.

As a side note. BadgeOS does exactly what GamiPress does. GamiPress is not unique and they both have a strikingly similar interface. You also said that it only has 100 active users. Thats true. But GamiPress only has 800, and yet, GamiPress is still relevant.

My entire point in opening this topic was not to get help or suggestions on how to do this. I already know how and don’t need help with that. It was to suggest something that was of value and one of the reasons I didn’t switch to GamiPress as soon as I heard about it.

@josephcscarpa is completely right. I’ve been asking for similar functionality as well. wpachievements has similar, submit code to a form and get an achievement, what is, I think, a necessity. Sure there’s “submit a specific form”, but then you have to make a form for every achievement that you want to just have a code for. That’s a bunch of extra work. I was hoping they were working on this functionality, but I see now they are not, so I will be coding it in the near future for my site.

So for folks that don’t need a bunch of codes, and just need a few. That is an alternative. Just get ninjaforms and use the “anti-spam” field and set it to the code you want to use and then set the achievement to trigger off of submit specific form to that form and that should work.

I will be completely fair with you both, I revised the entire code of invite codes plugin and the BadgeOS community plugin and there is no way to award an user that comes for an invite code, you are able to award them because it triggers the BuddyPress event for joining a group, bot it don’t triggers any specific event

The BadgeOS invite codes just request you to get installed BadgeOS for advertising, but is not truly required

To help you both, I released on my GitHub account a modified version removing those unnecessary checks and all advertising content to let you get it working with just BuddyPress installed:

Why on GitHub and not on www.ads-software.com? Because our team need to be focused in the development of GamiPress and official add-on, we can’t offer support too for a plugin focused just on BuddyPress

If one of you both (or anyone) want to adopt the BuddyPress Invite Codes plugin feel free to do it, we won’t maintain it

Thanks @rubengc – Appreciate the effort! Going to try and add the ability to just get an achievement for the code without the need for groups and maybe make this a plugin! You’ve sent me some code before that does that.
