BuddyPress posting and privacy issue

    Very cool. Love how you have made all the shortcode functionality.

    Two things I can’t get figured out though…

    1) It seems as though when a user likes a BP activity, the subsequent link that is shown in the Stream is simply: ‘Username likes activity’ – no name of the activity or permalink to it?

    2) It seems as though when a User likes a piece of content in a Private BP Group, that action (while limited in its definition as described above) shows in the Public Stream. In essence, the privacy parameters established in BP are ignored and Users who are NOT in Private groups can see the action in the Site-Wide Activity stream.

    Is it possible to have a more defined information in the posting of the like activity; and is it possible to maintain the privacy restraints as established for private groups.

    You have a real cool foundation of a great plugin. I wish you success in generating more downloads and activity.

    Thanks for your feedback.

    1) It is wrong behaviour, we plan to remove “activity generation” for votes on activities in next update.

    2) Yes agreed, current format doesn’t honours privacy settings, will include this in next plugin update.

    Oh, while a ‘vote’ is not necessary in an Activity, the ability to use the plugin for a straight up ‘Like’ of a BP activity (which then results in a clean well structured activity generation – example ‘Sue liked John’s update’) was a good thing (subject to the privacy rules, of course). It would be great if you could somehow fix or modify that, instead of removing it completely. Maybe keep it as an option on/off in plugin settings.

    Otherwise, excellent to hear about the update. Do you have an expected release date?

    I have tested a dozen other Like/Vote/Rate type plugins. Even as is, this is one of the best I’ve used. Hopefully with these fixes it will be one of the most popular on WP.

    Okay we will make it optional instead of removing it totally. Expected release date, nothing planned, October I guess.
