• When I registered on my site in an “Incognito Window” I inadvertently used an already in use email address and a note on top of the screen, provided that information. Then I corrected it, and submitted the form successfully. However the error warning “Sorry, that email address is already used!” was still visible on the next screen “Check your email to activate your account”. Might be quite confusing to the user.

    WordPress: 4.3.1
    BuddyPress: 2.4.2
    Theme: Apostrophe 1.0.7

Tested is with all plugins deactivated and default “Twenty Fifteen Theme”. Activated one plugin at a time, and after I activated WPSpam-Shield the behavior of the error message space changed. You should be able to reproduce it. If not let me know and I provide you with some testing space. I did not test this on the core WordPress screen, but I have a suspicion that you might see it there, too.

    Hi Birgit,

I’m sorry to hear about the issue you’re having, but I’ll be happy to help. That’s a very strange issue to have, as we have tested the plugin thoroughly with BuddyPress and never experienced this issue. Have you tried turning off incognito mode for your browser? Keep in mind that the incognito mode on your particular browser may be interfering with the proper functioning of JavaScript and cookies, which are two core elements required for WP-SpamShield (and most websites) to work.

At the top of the support forum there is a sticky post that we ask users to read first before creating a new thread or submitting a support request, because it guides you to excellent troubleshooting options we have already put together for our plugin users.

Please take a few minutes to work through the Troubleshooting Guide and FAQs, as these solve over 90% of issues users have. (Please be sure to follow all the steps, not just read through them.)

If the information provided doesn’t solve the issue for you, we’ll need a bit more info from you on the specifics, and we’ll need to email back and forth, so please head over to the WP-SpamShield Support Form (our main support channel), and take a moment to fill out a support request. That will allow us to help you diagnose this, find out what the real issue is, and get things working right for you.

    – Scott
