• I have been making some posts over this, but sadly without a proper answer yet, and i think this is the better post this issue because i think it’s a bug. My latest post on this can be read here, but in short it seems that logging in is impossible after seperating the blog and wp directory to exist side by side (parallel) in the rootdirectory of the site. Someone else also reported this problem.
Otherwise (blog in root and wp as a subdirectory of the root) it works fine, but not side by side. Check the link to see the redirectmessages I got. I think it’s a minor bug and I crawled through several files, hoping to find an answer. But I’m new to php so I must overlook the obvious. But it has something to do with following the wrong path )(relative path) after the login is complete.
After changing the value in the database ‘home’ from /weblog back to /wordpress the login then works ok.
Could someone please take a look at this?

  • moxie,
I’ll raise this topic w/ the Devs. Can’t promise you anything. It may already be on the to-do list; if not, well, it will be! ??

Thanks! But how will I know if it’s done? Do I have to check the CVS regularly for this?
For now I will be resetting the URL in the optionsmenu everytime I log out. But I will probably forget that sometimes :).

But I’ve been having exactly the same problem that you described in the earlier thread and I don’t have my blog in a different directory from the files. And it’s been days now that I can’t log in plus no one is even reading my thread about it. The developers really need to get onto this because it’s a HUGE bug, anything that makes the software unoperational should be top if the priority list. Who cares if something inside isn’t perfect if you can’t log in?
The reason I think mine may be related is I have more than one wordpress installation. I’ve always run more than one blog and always will. Since they are in parallel directories it could be messing with something in a similar way ( I don’t see how but still). But I know it’s not cookies that have already been set since I can’t log in from a computer that has never been to my domain, let alone either blog.

Part of the “not reading” can be b ecause these forums are real easy to lose posts, and there are only so many people who actually know the software who can try and help. A lot of people on the forums are you like you and me, just trying to find an answer.
I’m sorry, but I can’t seem to find the thread you’re referring to (the one where you posted your problem)?
I’d like to try and help you if I can. ??

It’s the one even earlier that that. I’m just posting all over now in the hope that someone will bother.
I can’t even find my own posts half the time (I’m looking for that one now), something needs to be done to make this forum easier to navigate. Even a link to our own profiles would make a huge difference. Oh, here it is https://www.ads-software.com/support/2/5215
I just re-installed all my files. Changed passwords and whatever in the database. Lost all the changes I made to files (except the template of course) and now I can log in again. I did this yesterday and it didn’t work so who knows what is going on. Third time I’ve had to do that this week, that’s how often the bug has hit. People keep saying ‘don’t log out’ but I didn’t, it logged me out on it’s own. So we’ll see how long it lasts this time.
Seriously, if there was an alternative to wordpress I’d be using it already.

I understand the forums will/may be changed soon (hurrah!) so hopefully this kind of occurence will become rare.
Okay I want to make sure I completely understand how y0u’ve got yours setup. I’ll go read that thread and then come back here….

Okay, so you have wp installed in “blog” and your blog address is also “blog”. But you say you have more than one wp installed?
Yeah, that *shouldn’t* make a difference, since others have run multiples fine, but who knows…. :/ ??
So how exactly do you have the other installed/setup? Got urls I can peek at? (I don’t know if that will help but….)

Thank you Thank you Thank you Sunshine!!!!
I think this fix needs to be added to the faq…
