On a fresh installation of Sensai LMS, I was tasked to redesign a Email Notification Template using the new system for students and teachers to receive customized templates in their email.

Only 1 issue, when editing the templates, none of the changes reflect, even though they are saved. I have checked the basics like memory, php version, plugin conflicts, even made a fresh installation with ONLY the lMS, the problem persists, no errors in the error log that I can see.

The changes reflect in the edit stage, however they don’t come through onto the preview, or the actual email.

    Any clues here?

    Hi @cameronatappinlet,

Would you share how exactly you’re changing email templates?

Are you changing the email templates via the block editor. To do so, please select email templates from SenseiLMS > Settings > Emails per this documentation: https://senseilms.com/documentation/email-notifications/

If you are not using the block editor to edit templates, would you share how you’re editing them?

    Hello Jay!

    Thank you for your reply.

I followed the documentation in editing notifications by using the block editor as instructed, however the main issue of text and styles being unchanged/overridden when viewed in the email or preview, remains.

Text align is one of them and text color for some of the elements (Only certain shortcodes).

If I change the text align in the block editor for the email notifications in the exact way you described, it doesn’t reflect.

Sensei LMS > Settings > Email Notifications > Course Completed > Edit

is the way I tried to edit the text.

@cameronatappinlet Just responded to your other thread about editing emails from the Sensei LMS settings, but I see you’re already doing that, so apologies if that’s no longer relevant!

Regarding this particular issue with your edits not reflecting, do you see your edits being reverted in the Block Editor at all? Or do they remain in the Block Editor, and it’s just not reflecting in the email/preview?

Which particular shortcodes have you been having trouble with so we can test this as well?

    Hello Cara!

Thank you for your reply! I was going to reply that I was using the editor, and was changing the shortcode on the other thread, I will try show you on that thread specifically.

With regards to this thread, the edits do sometimes reflect in the block editor, but are overridden somehow, and don’t reflect when I send the email or do a preview.

I have since found a workaround, but a proper solution would be great.
    This is one example
If I edit the New Course Assigned email notification template, and change the text to centre align, it will centre align in the block editor, but the preview won’t.

Same with changing some of the colors.

    Its overridden by email-template.php

Which I had to add my own edits to to fix the issue

    Hi @cameronatappinlet,

Thank you for the detailed reply and noting that certain edits are not applied even when editing the email template (e.g., colors, text align). I could reproduce the issue and forwarded it to our product team to better document the email template editing process. We’ll circle back with updates.

I’m glad to hear that you have found the workaround in the meantime.

    Hi @cameronatappinlet,

After some deep investigating, our team found a new bug which is in line with the issues of editing email templates you reported.

We have a fix in place, which should be included in the next release!
