• Ever since I upgraded to 3.2.1 the (1) update icon appears in the dash board and on the tool bar at the top of the page (when logged in). It never goes away. If I click on it it tells me I am running 3.2.1 the latest version. It gives me the option to reinstall which I did once but that didn’t help. I have never had this problem before. It isn’t a huge problem but it is kind of annoying. I would like to make it go away for the less computer savvy of the other blog contributors so they don’t constantly think we need an update. Thanks.

  • You have no further updates waiting?

Like plugins, or themes? That icon represents all of those things.

If you see nothing in your updates menu, go directly to your plugins area. I’ve had one plugin show up as needing updated, that for some reason did not appear on my updates page. When I looked at my actual list of plugins, it was in there to be updated

No there are no plugins pending update either.

I found the problem… feel free to spread the news… many themes seem to have a problem with updates. Checking my system error logs I found the error:

“FastCGI: server “/usr/local/say5/dcroot/cgi-sys/php5.fcgi” stderr: PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function add_contextual_help() in /home/deer3/public_html/mblog/wp-admin/network/settings.php on line 22, referer: https://mblog.3deers.com/wp-admin/upload.php”

I probed around the code, and got a hunch it was a theme issue. I went to the default theme, and the updates work! I then just revert to the theme I like.

Unfortunately, I have to do this on EVERY upgrade…
