Bug In Admin Search For Custom Post Types

The other issue was about empty results after clicking the “Filter” button because of empty value of “s”. This is something else.

Your search is sending all the correct parameters to Relevanssi. It should work like that. “post_type” is the only way to tell Relevanssi which post type to return.

Please add the following to the functions.php file of your theme, do a search and tell me what comes up:

add_filter('relevanssi_modify_wp_query', 'rlv_dbg');
function rlv_dbg($query) {
    if (is_admin()) {
        echo "<pre>";
        var_dump($query->query_vars);
        echo "</pre>";
    }
    return $query;
}

You may have some kind of filter somewhere meddling with the proper behaviour of the search.

I did as you asked. Doesn’t do anything. ie. I don’t see the outpu of var_dump anywhere.

FWIW, something I didn’t notice before… has nothing to do with this new filter…

I enter a search term, click ‘Search’ and then it brings up the -Posts-, not the Docs. But if I immediately click the Search button -again- I get an error. “Invalid Post Type”. The address of the page in the browser is now:

If that code shows nothing, then it would seem Relevanssi is not actually being involved at all. The problem seems to be something else, then.

Does the problem persist if you disable Relevanssi?

Figured it out—it was another plug that modifies the search pre_get. Not a Relevanssi issue. Sorry for the false alarm… but I appreciate the help. Your code gave me the starting point to find the real culprit.
