• Hey,

I automatically upgraded to wordpress 4.2.4 today. I should have disabled the automatic update, believe me. This update has cause a big issue with the theme I am using (BoldR Pro 1.6) and after the update it has totally messed the layout. I reinstalled the theme and put back the settings, it now almost back to normal.. only big issue (which is a wordpress concern) is that some of my characters are displayed with <?> on the page as you can see… if I click edit post; I have an empty post… but the post exist as it’s displayed on the wordpress site; but impossible to see anything on the WP editing side. So I see the post, I click Edit Post… empty title, empty body.

Anyone can release a fix as now my blog is just out of service because of this automatic upgrade to 4.2.4… everything was fine in the previous version. Damn it !

    Thanks a lot

@okp Have you tried any of the usual troubleshooting steps? They are a little repetitive but can help you.

    Try the following.

1 – Deactivate all of your plugins, no exceptions.
2 – Switch to the Twenty Fifteen theme.
3 – Clear your browser’s cache and cookies.
4 – Log in again and try the Visual Editor again.

    Any changes?

Hey Jan, I just did what you mentioned above before and again this morning (did not do the cache/cookies before) and nothing changed except now, there is no hidden text in the Visual Editor as before…. Weird?

Thank you for holding our very frustrated hands…

Here’s the problem I have here: pile on topics are not good and are really disrespectful of the original poster. This topic belongs to okp and isn’t mine or yours. That why everyone is encouraged start their own topic. If you want to help the original poster then that’s really cool.

If you’re trying to solve your own problem and never mind the person who started this topic then that’s not good.

Alsmost 100% of all WordPress post editor problems are because JavaScript isn’t working correctly. That can be for a few reasons.

1 – mod_security. I’m not a fan. ?? When something changes that can interfere. If you can disable it and re-rest after clearing your browser cache and cookies that may fix it.

2 – Server side caching. If you have an opcache or use a service like Cloudflare then that can also cache the old versions of the javascript files. The old versions will not work with the current 4.2.4 and that cache needs to be cleared too.

3 – Server side and browser caching. Sometimes the server will set an expiry in files being sent such as those javascript files. Most of the time that is good; except when you update and the browser still uses the old version. Clearing all the caches really can help.

4 – Javascript problems. Those can be tricky but can be diagnosed by turning on the browser console and doing so diagnosis.

It’s not always easy but if the javascript is failing you’ll see it there.
