I found a bug using this plugin on the mobile version of my website. It has to do with the multi-level donation custom amount setting. When I enter the custom amount it defaults to one of the preset levels and only on the second try can I get it to enter something. I have a short video from my iPhone browser demonstrating the issue.

    Hi @alondonb

I’m happy to look into this. Thanks so much for including the video. The easiest way for me to see what might be going on it to get a link to an example form that is misbehaving.

Also, please send along what version of Give you are using on the site.

    Hi Ben,
Thank you for the prompt reply!

The form is in the last widget on the sidebar of all pages except the Home page. The version of Give is 2.5.0.

Hi @alondonb — I visited that link in the browser and all looks fine. I then tried on mobile and the site seems to have a Coming Soon page ONLY for mobile, so I couldn’t see the problem at all. Can you remove that Coming Soon page so we can see the problem live?

    Hi Matt,

I typed in and then copied and pasted the bypass URL on my mobile browsers of Safari, Chrome, and Firefox apps for the iPhone 6s. All worked for me. I only got the Coming Soon when I typed only the main URL and not the bypass link.

    Could you try again?

    Hi Amy,

Following up here: I was just able to (on the first try with no weirdness) submit a $53 donation (I did not complete it at PayPal, but you should see it pending on your site) from mobile (google pixel 3a). Then I tried from an iPhone, just to be sure. Again, no issues at all. The second one was for $52.

So, long story short, I’m not seeing any issues here. Let us know if you can replicate this, but I’m not seeing an issue at all.

    Thanks!

    Hi Ben,
Ah, I think I found the difference between our testings.

In the video, I select the “Enter Amount” option. Then I select the blue “Done” text to the right of the iPhone screen. Then it defaults to the $5 donation before allowing me to enter a specific amount.

I didn’t, as I think you did, select the “Enter Amount” option and then touch the entry box to clear the screen and then enter a custom amount.

My user mind did not think to touch the entry box because it was already pre-filled with the default $5 or $10. Selecting “Enter Amount” didn’t automatically clear the entry box and prompt me to enter a number to fill it.

    Does this make sense?

    HI Amy,

I reviewed in detail how that information is populated, and it is for sure generated from your PayPal account and not something that we can control at all. I set up a new Personal Sandbox account and confirmed what you suggested that that name and “Return to” link is generated by your Personal account email address and it cannot be changed to a Name via the PayPal settings at all.

So the best option to change that is to upgrade to a Business Account. Upgrading to a PayPal Standard Business account does not have any fees; they only start charging when you upgrade to PayPal Payflow accounts.

    Thanks!

The other note about the dropdown is on the Desktop version, once the “Enter Amount” option is selected, the form triggers an empty field, thus prompting the user to enter a custom amount. This doesn’t happen on mobile, hence the confusion.

Does this all make sense I hope?

Hi just checking back to see if there are any updates – there was a little confusion on the tickets here this one is still open. ??
