Thanks for reaching out @mcalebh. Based on the error you provided this may be related to a multi party plugin conflict, in particular with your cookie related plugin. To investigate this further, please share your Site Health information and we can inspect your set up.

You may also wish to check does the same occur if you temporarily disable your cookie related plugin.

Thanks for the quick contact! I sent the information using the form indicated, waiting for a response ??

I tried to deactivate the cookies plugin (in this case, cookiebot) and everything got worse lol, the page increased the extension a thousand times and it was basically showing hundreds of lines of code and without loading the css

Thanks for sharing these additional insights @mcalebh. I can see you have a couple of optimization type plugins, along with a plugin that can insert code snippets into your site. With that, let’s perform a check with only Site Kit and your cookie plugin active. To do so, please follow the steps below:

    1. Login to your live site from a Chrome browser incognito window.
    2. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    3. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    4. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google“.
    5. Check your site once more (ignore that your theme will revert to a core theme – this is only for you as a logged in admin).
    6. If the error no longer occurs, activate your cookie plugin and check once more

Let me know how you get on with the above.

every time I disable the cookies plugin, the page breaks completely and starts showing thousands of lines of code, and when I run troble shoot, nothing actually changed, the kit by google site had been uninstalled, so I installed it again to do the troubleshoot, but it didn’t solve it

Thanks for the update. So you’re seeing code exposed on your front end both with and without Site Kit? Is the same occurring with a different theme active?

    Thread Starter mcalebh

    (@mcalebh)

yes, initially the only code that appeared will be the window-datalayaer that I mentioned above, when I deactivate the cookie plugin, the page is as if I had clicked on “inspect element”, the entire page is only with code.

yes, it remains in other themes as well

Thanks for the update @mcalebh. If this is occurring with Site Kit deactivated, this indicates the plugin isn’t the cause.

To troubleshoot this further, as I can see markup output on your site at present, can you share how you added Tag Manager to your site? I ask as I can see a snippet not placed via Site Kit, and if this is placed incorrectly, or if you’re using a CustomHTML tag it’s possible to encounter problems such as what you’re facing.

    (@mcalebh)

yes, but I believe that this code displayed is due to the activation of the plugin, something that was not removed correctly…

in fact, I didn’t manage to register the tag, when I installed the plugin I didn’t manage to configure all the functions and the error already appeared, I tried to configure it later to try to solve the problem but as it didn’t help, I already removed it

    Hi @mcalebh,

I’m checking a 404 page on your site now and I don’t see any trace of Site Kit present. The CSS that is output on your site is also not related to Site Kit, I’m seeing Elementor and WPML styling output.

Note also that Site Kit doesn’t have any front end styling, other that that which appears within the Site Kit admin toolbar (which does not appear for non admins).

From the checks I did perform on your site, I can see a Tag Manager snippet placed on your site, not via Site Kit. If a Tag Manager snippet is placed incorrect, it can cause problems. Alternatively, if you’re using a customHTML tag within the container, it may be possible for conflicts to arise. For that reason I was asking do you recall how you added this snippet, or can you temporarily remove this before checking once more.

So, this is my main problem, I didn’t insert anything in the code, in fact I recently inserted the google tag to try to solve it but it didn’t change anything apparently….

    (@jamesosborne)

Sorry to hear that @mcalebh. There is a non Site Kit placed Tag Manager snippet evident on your site, which could be contributing to the cause. Unfortunately, if the same is occurring with Site Kit deactivated this indicates it’s not a Site Kit specific issue.

If you do want me to check your site once more I’m happy to do so, please check for any other methods of placing your Tag Manager snippet, and remove this snippet if possible.

Could you guide me where I can possibly find this code?I’ve looked in all the main wordpress files and nothing… is it a certainty that this code will be found?

@mcalebh Unfortunately we’re limited to Site Kit plugin queries here in the plugin forums. You can, however, use the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin to determine the source of the snippet placement, checking for the snippet upon enabling plugins one by one and checking for the same snippet each time. If you can’t determine the source of the snippet placement with each plugin enabled, you can then switch themes while remaining in troubleshooting mode.
