Just updated the plugin on a site and immediately Simplified Chinese went missing.

When going into the settings the Chinese flag is still there, but when clicked the plugin gives two options> Taiwan Chinese and HongKong Chinese.

The latter never has been an option, anywhere, ever, so there is some weird stuff going on.
EDIT: actually I saw on the 1,0,1 version also the choice ZH_hk …

For now I have reverted back to 1.0.1

  • Dear Piet,

If you take a look at the available locales in wordpress you will see those two listed there on the right column:

    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/WordPress_in_Your_Language

However, I can confirm that simplified chinese is missing. I will follow up this bug with a developer and get back to you.

    Thanks for the report,
    David

    Hi David,
    Yes, hence my EDIT…

Fact is that your 1.0.1 version actually does have simplified Chinese zh_CN and your latest release does not have.

    big bug

needless to say, but then again maybe not, any site that needs simplified Chinese completely falls apart with the latest version of the plugin ??

We switched to the official WordPress languages mapping and probably missed that. I’ll ask Mihai to update the mapping and sort it out.

Just to confirm the fix that we are going to have:

    The project includes:
    https://translate.www.ads-software.com/projects/wp/dev/zh-tw/
    https://translate.www.ads-software.com/projects/wp/dev/zh-cn/
We should have just one Chinese in the language name and then allow to choose between these two locales.

I don’t want to have the names simplified and traditional. Each person has his own name for Chinese variants. Let’s just have ‘Chinese’ and allow to choose one of the available locales.

Is this OK, or do you think that we should do something else?

    Hi Amir,

    Thanks for replying.

Your solution is the most ideal I think.

Although the official names, I can imagine that the terms traditional and simplified chinese are confusing for many people.

    Thanks!
