Bug ? Settings lost if plugin is disabled then re-enabled

I second this and can confirm that if you deactivate and then activate the plugin again, ALL the settings are reset to their defaults.
Any fix please?

I’ve just seen that there is an update to this plgin today, but I’m worried that all my settings might be lost !

Anyone updated and can confirm it went OK ?

There ya go, fixed in 5.0.0. Please try it out and let me know of any other issues.

To recover your old settings you need a backup of the database. It would be stored in wp_options.option_name = “askapache_google_404_options”;

But I’m confused – do we need to backup the database settings, upgrade the plugin, and then restore the database settings back ? This sounds a very unusual & unique method of upgrading a plugin – never had to do this before.

But I guess this is a 1-off procedure, and that from v5 onwards we won’t need to do this ?

Ya photoM it’s a 1-off procedure, from now on you can upgrade every time a new version comes out without having to do anything. The goal was to be able to just hit update and not have to re-configure or enable anything.

This is a big update, it will allow me to develop it more actively, and finally start adding some great new features I’ve been thinking about.
