• ***[UPDATE: I originally had a lower rating, but with some help from the theme developer, I have been able to resolve all of the issues that I was having with the theme.

It’s a really pretty and functional theme. The only reason that I’m not giving it 5 stars is that I almost tore my hair out looking for solutions in the Fashionista forum, which I found to be less maintained that other theme forums so it’s not beginner friendly in terms of troubleshooting.]***

What things don’t work, culturegrab? It would be helpful for me to know so any fixes can be included in the next version. I do give a s***, and I will try in future to spend more time answering support requests.

I tried getting support for ATSocial Widget that redirected to blog2.culturegrab.com/facebook.com/culturegrab for example. I saw that others had the same issue but no solution was ever offered. I ended up using a plugin (which isn’t as nice but, looks similar), because I couldn’t figure out how to fix it on my own. I opened 3 threads for various issues, and when not a single one was addressed, I tried to piggy back off an old thread (of a blog that I saw successfully rectified this issue – in a desperate hope that maybe the original author would see my comment and be able to share his solution) only to be told to open my own thread. I understand the rules of the forum, but it’s frustrating to see only open or unanswered threads on this part of it.

Currently I’m struggling to get the photo caption to not show up as “[caption id=attachment…etc” in the excerpts.

I apologize for the harshness of my words. I really do like how your theme looks, but unlike other themes I’ve played around with, I’ve found looking for solutions for any issues I’ve encountered in Fashionista incredibly frustrating.

For the AT Social Icons widget, for Twitter, for example, you would enter this URL: https://twitter.com/Culture_Grab That should work.

By default WordPress strips out all HTML from excerpts and prints all data, which is what you’re seeing. There’s not much you can do about it. Also, shortcodes are not being executed in excerpts.

What can be done is to create a manual excerpt for the posts in question, if it isn`t too much work. So, from the editor (text tab) just copy the amount of HTML you want to show and paste it in the excerpt box. That way, nothing will get stripped.

In this case, if you build the manual excerpt, you have to be careful not to include the image in it or it will get displayed twice: once as a cropped featured image, and once as a full image. Or you can just remove the featured image and use the full one if you include it in the excerpt.

Thank you, athemes. I apologize for the low review. I did really like most of the theme, I was just kind of losing it after unsuccessfully trying to get resolutions on a number of issues both in the forum and throughout the web. I’ve changed my review and rating.

Your advice on AT Social Icons fixed the problem, but I found the solution to the excerpt issue here:

I edited one line in the content.php file and now it looks great. Thank you for your help.

    Cheers!
