Build new WP site while keeping html site up

  • I’m designing a new site for an existing html site and plan on using the same domain name and host. I need to keep the html site running while I build the new WP site. What’s the best way for going about this?

    Also, how to I transfer the new WP site to the old domain once it’s done?

    Any advice would help. Thanks!

  • Use a desktop tool like XAMPP (open source) or WebMatrix (Microsoft) and deploy when all local testing is done, or create a sub-domain for testing and follow the instructions in the codex on moving a blog.
