Building Offline (and WYSIWYG editor)

  • I have been using WP for sometime, but have always edited via the WYSIWYG online portal.

    I’m now trying to build a website from scratch, but want to do it offline first.

    I have tried downloading the WP 4.4.2 zip, installing Webmatrix, and installing DesktopServer.
    However, none of these are giving me the traditional wp-admin interface that I’m used to.

    Is this WYSIWYG editor only available online, or is there a way to access offline?

  • I am not familiar with Webmatrix nor DesktopServer, do they have support communities ? What do they say ?

    Otherwise I would suggest that you uninstall these and install the AMPPS suite from: https://www.ampps.com/

    The WordPress dashboard should be the same regardless of which hosting you are using.
