• When I embed an audio file through “add media”, it shows up in the editor without a play button. If I click where the button should be, it works as if there was a button there. However, when I go to the page, it is blank. If I set the audio file to autoplay, it plays when I open the blank page so I know it is there somewhere. Why can’t I see the player?

  • Can you replicate the problem using the default Twenty Fourteen theme with all plugins deactivated?

I don’t know…can I do that without changing the actual website?

This is just basic troubleshooting – a process of elimination deliberately designed to locate the root cause as quickly as possible by first removing the most obvious and common culprits via a series of (often) temporary steps.

Your theme & plugin settings are saved in your database and should be retained for future use.

I’m sorry, I understand the concept of what you’re asking for and it makes perfect sense to me. However, our website was built by someone else and I just maintain it so I’m not really sure how the whole theme thing works. I was just concerned with what the website will look like if I change themes. Won’t everything on it be messed up?

I have this problem, too. I tried using the shortcode and just adding the URL, and it shows up the same way. You can’t see the button at all in Safari on Mac and Chrome on Mac/Windows; you can see just a tiny piece of it in Firefox on Mac/Windows.

I cannot take this post live until I figure out how to fix this, because I don’t want my client’s site to appear broken. So sorry, I can’t post a link.

I deactivated all the plug-ins I’m using and that didn’t make a difference. I did try this on my personal website, and it appeared. So maybe it’s a theme issue.

But in any case, if this is now embedded into WordPress, I would think that theme settings would not affect this.

I am having the same issue with the built in WP media player.
    The PAUSE/PLAY button doesn’t appear.
I’m using a MAC OS 10.8.5. Chrome and Firefox.

    Any suggestions or fixes please??
