• I’ve left all my posts uncategorised and now I have created categories and want to go back and assign categories to them all….

    is there a quick way? I am having to go into admin and open each post and then go for edit and then click the category and then close it all and then go for the next…..

  • Try this:

    • Go to Admin->Posts
    • Open the ‘Screen Options’ with the tab at top right
    • Set the ‘Show on screen’ to 999 Posts and click Apply
    • Mark all posts by clicking the checkbox next to ‘Title’ in the header bar
    • Use the ‘Bulk Actions’ dropdown to select ‘Edit’ and click ‘Apply’
    • Assign the categories and click ‘Update’

    This should let you do nearly a thousand posts at once.

    Thank you very much for that.

    Just as a foot note, as said above checkmark the posts and use bulk edit for selected posts.

    If you did want to add each post to several different multiple categories, then you do not need to open “edit” the whole post, from Admin > Posts > Posts, you get a list.

    On each post when you hover over the title you get a sub menu appear, where you have:
    “Edit” | “Quick Edit” | “Trash” | “View” options

    Choose “Quick Edit” this slides open a small screen where you can assign the categories, tags, allow comments, sticky, allow pingbacks etc:
