bulk edit product categories

You can do this from WooCommerce–> Products and clicking the checkbox on multiple products that you want to add to a category. Once you do that, change “Bulk Actions” to “Edit”, then apply.

Once you’re in the bulk edit screen, you can add all of the selected products to the same category.

I see but how can I remove the products from one category in bulk?

The situation is like this. All the products are in uncategorized categories, after I follow your method to edit the selected products to a new category, they are added to the new category but still in uncategorized categories. How can I remove those products from one category in bulk?

Thanks for explaining that for me. This is actually a function of WordPress core, not WooCommerce, so there’s not much we can do about that.

As a workaround, your best bet would be to export your products via CSV, change the product categories, then re-import. This guide goes over that process: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/product-csv-importer-exporter/

I think it is more likely a bugs of wordpress or woocommerce. I have already unchecked “uncategorized” in bulk edit, the products still existed in the “uncategorized” category. Would wordpress or woocommerce fix that bugs?

In the event to wanted to add a category to several products that are already assigned to different categories, the bulk edit feature built into WordPress cannot achieve this as it only adds to what currently exists and doesn’t force all products to have the same categories.

So unchecking a category will not remove a category, checking will only assign. You can use the exporter method mentioned above to add and remove categories in bulk.
