Basically I have thousands of products. They all use the same variation, so I want to use the same variation ID for each product rather than create new IDs for each one. But I’m curious will it show the parent ID of the variation purchased so I don’t get confused as to which product they purchased ? I hope this makes sense.

    Variations don’t work like that.

Think of each variation being a separate item:

Red T-shirt size Large is a specific product

Green T-shirt size Large is another product

The ‘variation ID’ would be for the specific colour/item/size combination

You would need to create a global attribute (for example Size): https://woocommerce.com/document/managing-product-taxonomies/#product-attributes then apply that attribute as a variation for each product in the upload CSV
