Bulk input/editing throughout plugin & player number, referees

  • Hi – Great plugin with lots of potential.

    My biggest issue with the plugin is the amount of time it takes to input information – i.e. Create a squad of players, create a load of teams etc.

    With that said – Is there plans whereby you can bulk create?… e.g.:

    1. Players – e.g. A single page where you can enter in 20+ players names and the team they play for. Currently, you have to create 20+ separate posts/players to complete this task.
    2. Teams – Similar to players, a single page where you can create 20+ teams and assign them to a league/season. Be handy if you could assign their logo on this single page as well
    3. Events – For a lot of usage scenarios, the user is only really interested in their own team and its players. As such, they only want to record the match results the other teams are involved in. So I don’t want to go through the process of creating an ‘event’ for every match my team is not involved in. So, it would be great to have a bulk event page in which you could enter in all the results from the teams in your league without having to create a separate event for each one. (you wouldn’t enter in team lineups etc for these events).

    Two other question:

    • Will it be possible in future versions to a assign a per match/event number for each player. i.e use football (soccer) as the example. Id like to be able to assign a number to a player on a match by match basis. e.g. The selected goalkeeper would be assigned 1 and the selected striker would be assigned 11 and so on. That would be the backend input. On the frontend, the players would be displayed in order from 1 to 11.
    • Possible to add in an area to enter in the matches referee and similar data?

    Thanks for checking out SportsPress!

    A bulk create tool is definitely on the roadmap for us. We are currently working on core features, then will be addressing usability improvements like these.

    Assigning squad numbers to players per match was requested by another user as well and we will be adding this feature in the next major update.

    Referees are also a popular request and will likely make it into the next release as well.

    I’ll let you know when these updates become available ??

    I look forward to it. I would recommend you put together a brief guide video (say < 10 minutes) with a run through of how to setup a league, create teams and then the most effective way to display it on the front end.

    Correct me if I am wrong, but none of the features I highlighted above have been implemented yet…

    I am wondering if any of them are going to be added to the plugin soon?

    I’m also keen to hear any updates on this, especially with calendar and events… Bulk input through excel file would be fantastic
