bulk media register stops after not long

    Hi, great plugin, we previously had no problem registering 30k images in 1 go very easily, it was a site on google cloud. We have been trying to do 10k images to a site with premium but share hosting, execution and input times are maxed up at 9999, but we cant do more than 1-2% at a time. Is this a server issue or is there another something we can tweak. Currently its doing it, just we are hacking our way through, by restarting it over and over… and over. many thanks

    Ah this is torture… i can only do about 100 then it stops. Ive changed the execute and max input via cPanel to the ini file, – can it be overridden somewhere else.

    It has the ability to terminate the search before the search times out and produces a server error.
    Specifically, it terminates the search in 80% of the ‘max_execution_time’.

    If you register many times, you will get a lot of thumbnails and it will take a long time to find the files. This is due to the computing power of the server.
    If you control the generation of thumbnails, you may be able to get by even on a slow server.

    THANKS VERY MUCH for reply. Yes i have unwanted thumbnails, i shall try that plugin.

    Q. Does registering many times, create any duplicate images/thumbnails.? It seems not because when i re start the search on the same folder its not finding the images already done, and the count is getting smaller. So cant see it making extras, but yes lots of unwanted thumbnails.

    Max execution time is 9999 – but this is stopping after 5-10 mins / 1% / 100images approx. Im guessing server is issue, its supposed to have 2 core 2gb ram – but doesn’t feel like it.

    I’m not an expert on servers, but I don’t think a shared server will give you the capabilities you’d expect.

    Another way.

    Settings -> Search -> Recursively search files below specified folder. uncheck

    Bulk Register
    folder specification

    Many Thanks, we are 20% way through and its going fast and smooth. We removed ALL thumbnail creation in all sizes, that must have been killing it. Your Disable Thumbnails plugins worked very well. Thanks for your efforts replying.

    Hi, sorry for the hijack…
    Will existing thumbnails following wp naming convention be registered as thumbnails to “mother image”?
    AKA should I use the disable-generate-thumbnails plugin and bulk register OR
    Should I get rid of all the thumbnail files and then bulk register and let it create thumbnails during the register?
    What’s the best way to move forward?
