Bulk/Quick Edit Author Dropdown Missing

    Hi,

    I created a brand new multisite and I am in the process of moving subsites from an older mu version to the new version.

    After importing the site content I am trying to change the author to a newly created user using the Bulk Edit feature but the Author dropdown in missing. So, I check it on the Quick Edit and it is also missing. I then check it on Edit and I am able to change Author using the full Edit.

    To troubleshoot I have taken the following steps:

    1. Ensure that multiple users with appropriate permissions exist on the subsite: 3 Admin users are assigned to the subsite.
    2. Using Health Check Troubleshooting plugin I have disabled all plugins and reverted to the default theme (Twenty Twenty-Two).

    The problem persists. I have also checked the issue in the primary site and other subsites and the same problem exists on all of them.

    My workaround for changing the author is to export all posts, delete all, then import and select the correct author. However, this process is certainly not ideal.

    Please let me know if this is a known bug for the current version of WP (I searched and didn’t find it) or if there is something I have missed in my troubleshooting efforts that may help to resolve the issue.

    After an hour of reading through bug reports I found this simple solution. Apparently, as of 6.0 the Bulk/Quick edit feature is automatically disabled if your user count exceeds 10k. (Wish someone would have told me that) The solution they offered is to disable that feature using the following code snipet:

    add_filter( 'wp_is_large_user_count', '__return_false' );

    And Bob’s your uncle!!
