Bulk resize does nothing

Like many others in the forum I can’t use bulk resize. I search and detect images, resize them, get no error messages, just the confirmation message that every image has been resized. Also when I search afterwards, Imsanity can’t find any images that need resizing.
However, images are still huge when I look at my website. Like nothing was done to them at all.
What’s wrong?
