    Hi,
After running the “SETUP WIZARD” found 3 error inside “BulletProof Security Core Files Setup” tab .

    As follows:

Error: Unable to create or update File /home/xxxxxx/forums.xxxxxx.com/wp-content/plugins/bulletproof-security/admin/login/.htaccess

Error: Unable to create or update File /home/xxxxxx/forums.xxxxxx.com/wp-content/plugins/bulletproof-security/admin/core/.htaccess

Error: Unable to create or update File /home/xxxxxx/forums.xxxxxx.com/wp-content/plugins/bulletproof-security/admin/wizard/.htaccess

Is this issue normal ? I mean can be ignored or needs to be solved ?

I recommend asking at https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/bulletproof-security so the plugin’s developers and support community can help you with this.

Either your particular web host does not allow .htaccess files or you have a folder/file permission problem or the File Owner and Script Owner are different. Go to the BPS System Info page and check the folder permissions and Ownership for the WordPress plugins folder: ../wp-content/plugins. Is the Owner of the /plugins/ folder the same Owner as your other folders?

Yes, Script Owner User ID (UID) & File OwnerUser ID SAME FOR ALL THE FOLDERS.

    Ok what about folder/file permissions?

Also do you have the Sucuri plugin installed? Do you have any other security plugins installed?

    It’s here , please check https://i.imgur.com/IH91ynU.png

These particular htaccess files are not critical and are only extra protection for BPS plugin folders. So was BPS able to successfully create the Root and wp-admin htaccess files on your website/server?

No, 3 days ago I installed wordfence first, couldn’t understand it as it didn’t resolve my issue, i uninstalled it & installed BPS , it’s now only security plugin installed.

I checked your screenshot and it is not a folder/file permission problem.

“” So was BPS able to successfully create the Root and wp-admin htaccess files on your website/server? ” how to check that ? I’m new to this , so . . please specify .

Go to the BPS > htaccess File Editor tab page > you should see green text above the file editor that has a status for your root and wp-admin htaccess files. Or you will see red text if there is a problem with the root and wp-admin htaccess files.

    Thread Starter Bidyut

    (@iambidyut)

    There’s 5 GREEN lines,

File Open and Write test successful! The secure.htaccess Master file is writable.
File Open and Write test successful! The default.htaccess Master file is writable.
File Open and Write test successful! The wpadmin-secure.htaccess Master file is writable.
File Open and Write test successful! Your currently active root htaccess file is writable.
File Open and Write test successful! Your currently active wp-admin htaccess file is writable.

Ok so at this point we know that your server allows htaccess files. The self-protection htaccess files are not that important. They were added as an additional self-protection thing, but really they are not important at all. So you can just ignore the Setup Wizard error messages for those BPS self-protection htaccess files. We will double check BPS code on our end to make sure that this is not a bug. ??
